Aki had always loved the beach. The smell of the sea, the roaring choir of waves that came crashing upon the warm sand at irregular intervals. She enjoyed hearing the laughter of the little kids as they dipped their toes into the cool water or as they built glorious castles that would get washed away at high tide and the overall happy feeling that the atmosphere here gave off. But of course Aki didn't come here because she was happy;she came here to try and find happiness. For the past couple of weeks she had been having trouble with keeping track of time and once again the panic rose as she knew that could only mean one thing. although up until this point it hadn't happened yet she was sure that this time it would. This time was time wasn't like the others, the span of time that she lost was greater and the feeling of detachment was stronger than what it was before.Even now as she sat with her knees drawn up to her chest with her notebook lying beside her she couldn't help but notice the small gaps in time as she sat and watched a group of kids playing.
One minutes the girl was buried in the sand, completely covered from her neck down all the way to her toes and then suddenly, as if she blinked, the girl was playfully splashing water of an older looking boy who could have been the little girl's older brother. Reaching for her notebook to log in her latest entry she could see a faint black shadow looming over head. A moment later the ball was in her hands, quickly loosing air from ten holes on either side of it. Looking at the ball she didn't have time to piece together exactly what had happened before a boy walked up to her.
"Hey lady, that's not nice."
"I-I'm really s--" She started to say before the boy cut her off.
"If you don't wanna be here then leave instead of messing it up for everybody else." With that said the boy snatched the deflated ball out of her hands and stormed off.
But I do want to be here... she thought to herself as she picked up her things and brushed the sand from her bottom. AS much as she really did want to be there she could tell that no one else wanted her so she decided to leave before she popped someone else's ball.
On her way home she stopped by the ice cream parlor and bought a salt-water, strawberry flavored ice cream bar and tried to lighten the mood but all failed when her arm started hurting. The sharp pain snapped her wrist back and she dropped her ice cream as she sunk to her knees trying to regain herself. People around started to question but most just looked at her odd and kept on walking. That's what she wanted, she didn't need anyone else wrapped up in her crazy life right now. The pain increased and as she looked at the strange red jewel on the silver band wrapped tightly around her wrist, she felt something warm and heavy on her left shoulder. Fearing to look to see just who or what it was, in the shiny surface of the jewel she could just barely make out the dark figure of a person whom she assumed was a man.
"Don't make a sound, just come with me." Said the person behind her.
